CREATIVE STATEMENT

"And though We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven: that which we are, we are: One equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
— Ulysses Alfred Lord Tennyson.

In my work, I have always been drawn to mythology and tales of heroes, especially heroes in their roles as servants and protectors of mankind. In my fine art, I am very likely to depict my central character as a hero-someone searching for something, or watching over someone else, while displaying some inherent weakness. For my recent show, I have created thirty new pieces based specifically and pointedly in Greek mythology. I believe that it is a natural extension of my striving and seeking to present new, yet classic, figurative work.
